The Metal Effect Look

I have Elements 9 that I was experimenting with last week in the filters section. I hit the plastic wrap filter and this is what I came up with - the metal effect. Once I applied it I went to my picasa to alter it even more. I sent them out to be enlarged and laminated and when they came back I was amazed at how good they looked!! I also found out that this effect doesn't work on everything so it's a matter of just trying. What do you guys and girls think?

I like these! I've looked at that effect dozens of times, but never really experimented with it. Now maybe I will. Personally I think the first one is the most successful. Thanks for posting!

I think you created some really unique designs that have wonderful coloring, I'd like to see more like them --- you're on to something good.

Well done,

Thank you all. For the first and 3rd one I had already applied picasa effects before using the plastic wrap filter. The second one was made straight from the original flower photo and then I used picasa with it. By the way - the ones I had made like this were sold as soon as I made the frames for them. I will post photos of those tomorrow.

Beautiful, I'm sure you will have many sales. Question from a newbie with no ps experience. Call me Head Start. Do you have a dark background when shooting the photo or is it done in Elements?

Sometimes the background is fairly dark and in picasa I just darken the whole photo even more. When you use the plastic wrap effect in Elements that'll darken the background some too.

I like the 1st and 3rd.
Less than a newbie in editing I have yet to get the photoshop lightroom element picasa thingy, but I see the metal effect in the center photo.

They look great... How did you create the frame in the second one... It really sets off the picture

In Picasa under the 5th menu - last section, go to "Border" and in that move the "corner radius". You can make the edges curve in like I did with the 2nd one. Or you can go even more and make a circle around a picture and then widen the gap - and change color of it. There is so much you can do with Picasa.
