I am thinking about buying a Lowepro Pro Trekker 300 AW Backpack for general hiking and traveling. Does any one have this model and brink or the 400 and if so would you tell me how you like it? If any of you readers have any other suggestions on photo backpack please jump in.
Thanks

I have their 202AW sling backpack. I had the 202 for a week, and bought the 102AW also. I use the 102 for bicycling. This company is a sure bet in quality. ALL EXTREMLY WELL THOUGHTOUT bags. I looked at the one you are talking about but wanted a smaller bag. You can't go wrong with this buy. Go for it, you will be shocked at the ergonomics in these bags. Thank, Boone

I have the Lowepro Fastpack 350 AW and find it very good for my purposes. I didn't want an exclusively photographic backpack as I find the top part is useful for food or other items which I can also carry and I can carry enough kit for the day without putting my back out.
The Trekker 300 AW Backpack has got excellent reviews and I don't think you will regret the choice you have made - Not saying you will never buy another :-)

Davet, there has been a lot said of backbacks if you do a search. mostly people tell you what they use. That said, I have a LowPro Compu-Trekker AW(no longer made), I think it's similar to a 350. a 400 is gonna be huge.
The good: LowPro is high quality gear. Mine takes a laptop and is pretty big. It's very protective with really nice and wide shoulder straps with sturdy waist belt and chests strap. The tripod system is good and has lots of support.
The bad: it's just to stiff and protective. It's heavy and large and feels that way. So I very RARELY use it.
My every day 98% of the time pack is a Canon deluxe 200eg. It's a cheap little pack that cost $40. It will carry a DSLR with lens and about 5 other lenses of 200mm or less with lots of accessories, including windbreakers and food. I like it because it feels backpack-like and is comfy. I carry it up to 16 hours a day with 20 pounds in it.
Good luck, as there are as many packs as there are photographers. ;-)
