I'm trying to get a handle on how long the D600 service advisory repairs are taking. Have any of you received your bodies after sending them in under the advisory? (I just sent mine to LA yesterday, and now I'm a bit nervous about the expected turn-around time.) Also, if you've gotten the body back, is there any indication about what the techs actually did to it? Thanks!

Will be interested in hearing replies to your post. My D600 got a new shutter months ago, well before Nikon sent out the letters and email notices. I suspect they have had a flood of returns that will negatively affect the time a repair will take. My past experiences with Nikon Repair the in-house time has been around a week with a couple of days shipping to and from. Keeping my fingers crossed for you. Let us know how it works out. ;)

I dropped mine off at UPS Feb 26. Arrived at Nikon NY Feb 28. Login their system March 3, in shop from March 3 -5. Under Billing until March 10 and shipped out. UPS will deliver tomorrow March 12. Therefore, the total turn-around is exactly 14 days including two weekends. I will let you know when mine is back tomorrow. According to their repair record, clean sensor and replace shutter mechanism.

Thanks for the responses, folks. It helps to know that the turnaround time might still be relatively short. I've no idea how many D600's will be shipped to Nikon for this "service advisory," but my guess is that they'll be totally swamped. I'll post progress reports on my D600, as well as a note when I get it back and have time to make some test exposures. Please keep us posted about your repair times and your reactions to the modifications. It's always good to hear from fellow UHH'ers!

I sent my D600 in last May for sensor spot removal and it has been flawless ever since. Not sure if the shutter was changed as the work order does not say so. I've sent an e-mail to Nikon and await their reply; no sense sending in the camera if the shutter was already done. Just to be sure, I took a picture of clear blue sky - not even a speck on the sensor at present!

From the day I shipped, was back in my hands in 11 days...but mine went in for warranty work on body (spots and focus issue) and lens repair.... but I did receive a letter afterwards about the service advisory...telling me that my camera was not required to be sent in again

10 days to get back in my hands. Coincidently I shipped mine the day day before the free "fix" was announced. Nikon reimbursed me for the shipping and insurance $57

Great timing. I imagine the service centers were swimming in D600's shortly after the service advisory went out. I sent mine in, for the second time, just before the warranty was to expire and coincidently that is when they had just started replacing the shutters. We both got lucky. ;)

Gobuster, my situation is an exact copy of yours, even the same time frame! When I received my camera back about 3 weeks later, the repair slip indicated that the shutter mechanism had been replaced. When the recall came out, I immediately called them and said my shutter has already been replaced, but I was told that I need to sent it back anyway (no explanation as to why).

So mine went back to California on March 6.

I got my D600 back, it was gone only 6 days including the weekend. They replaced the shutter.
I had it for about 18 months and never had any problems with the oil or dust on the sensor. I took over 18,000 pictures.
