New From Excelsior Springs

Hello, I'm from Excelsior Springs Mo which is a little town NE of Kansas City.
I am a amateur astronomer among other things. I am 71 and new to cameras.
Heck, I don't even know what the "F" stop thing is. But I love taking pictures.
Since I am into astronomery, I just bought a Canon SX 50HS. Got it last week
and have to take everything in "Auto" mode because I'm not smart enough to
use the manual settings yet. Will post pictures of what I have took, if I can
find where to post them and how to post them on this Fourm.

Hello and welcome. I'm 71 also and I'd like to suggest you invest in a book by Bryan Peterson. "Understanding Exposure" rel.3. It will help clear the fog.

Love the moon pictures. Be for warned, if you hang around this group you will learn about the "F" stop thing. Welcome.

Eventually you'll want to get out of the Auto mode and really start having some fun with your SX50. Play around with the P (Program) mode for a while and when you feel comfortable with that you can start experimenting with the other modes. If you have questions the good folks at UHH
