I am considering buying a Sony A7R with a 35mm 2.8 lens and would like to know if anyone on the forum has one and what they think.

You may want to wait until the notice comes out on "reported light leaks resolved".

See here:

Imaging Resource has been around as a reputable review site for some time. I use them frequently, and recall using them on the Olympus E-1 and the Panasonic DMC L1 about ten years ago.

Trey Ratcliff, a well known HDR photographer, switched to the Sony last year after years of shooting Nikon. He has a review on his website, Stuckincustoms.com.

Yep, she's no longer weather sealed.

Serge Ramelli, a very good french photographer and canon shooter just got one and is raving about it. I own a sony a99 and love it... except not so much the bulk and weight...

My wife and I have had 5 or 6 Sonys over the last few years and all have been great photo makers. We still have one each as we like the quality, useability, and operation..If I want to upgrade in the future it will be a Sony..

I normally shoot with a Nikon D7100. Last week I purchased a Sony RX100 and I'm very happy with it.

Good Choice. I really like the Nex line by Sony. Nikon uses Sony sensors, so they must have something going for them. Everyone to his own choice, what makes you happy is the best choice, but If you don't own an expensive Nikon, don't let anyone look down their nose at you if you use a Sony.

True, the Sony A7r uses the Nikon D800 sensor. The biggest question between the two is whether someone is comfortable with the EVF or if the optical VF is important.

I hate to disagree , but the Nikon uses a Sony sensor. Not vice versa. :)

Yes, I kind of baited that. ;-)

Nikon says it is a "Nikon developed sensor", it is manufactured by Sony. Nikon does not manufacture any sensors, it uses other companies for all of them, including Sony. I think the simple way to decide who has more "ownership" of the lens is which camera used it first.
