I'm sure most of you have heard this term, but Blue Hour was new to me. I got it from Kent Weakley's blog. It's that time within an hour before sunrise and after sunset.
If you haven't been to
http://photoephemeris.com/ it's worth a look. It gives times for Civil, Nautical, and Astronomical sunrise/sunset, etc.

Bue hour is that period of time between "magic hour" and dark thirty. It can give you some interesting long exposure light effects if you have the patience to shoot in it. Biggest problem is the rapid change in "available" light. Its also a nice time to do some painting with light as it can give you two light source points and make for some interesting effects. Also a popular time for archtectural shooting to get the structure lit with the inside lights still on.
