I hope I'm not stepping on anyones toes here, but being we do what we do and the fact I am always asked why I like to fly, I thought I would post this for all of you to enjoy. This was sent to me from a fellow aviator who's love for flying is as strong as mine and even when stuck on the ground, our heads are still in the air! Enjoy !

Hi There,
Can't tell if you're in a cub or an ultra-lite. Got any photos of your plane ?

Have you ever seen the book, America from 500 feet. It's all photography from an ultralight. Take a look at it. It's pretty awesome.

I've spent a lot of hours driving airplanes around and have never tired of looking down at the world and a cross country in a J-3 would give you a good loooong look. <G>
I was lucky enough to be able to fly a B-24 and B-17 around the country for a couple of years...also a good way to see the land.

dfalk,
One of my favorite ever movie scenes is the opening of
"The Best Years Of Our Lives" with the 3 returning servicemen flying home and looking over thier hometown from the nose window of what I believe was a B-17. when it's on even if I dont watch the whole movie, that scene makes me tune in.

The big birds are all right for the job they were built for, but there has never been a better airplane built than the
J-3 Piper Cub. They built one or two larger versions of the Cub, but the wee one was the best of all. Before I had to hang up my wings as a Civil Air Patrol Senior Pilot, and week-end tourist, I chalked up a little over four hundred hours in a J-3.
You couldn't fly one of those planes wrong if you tried. I had two loveable pets, my dog and my J-3 Cub.

Why I flywell can't photograph the thrill of ground visual contact at minimums in a snow storm, But here are a couple from a low stress cockpit.
By day
and by moonlight
Who in their right mind can argue that one......
Well, maybe a "left" mind..........................
