Oh my goodness. When I saw the first pic I immediately thought of the time 35 years ago that a friend and I were camping on the Talimena Byway. Then I read your comment!! We were there at the height of the breeding season and the sticks were EVERYWHERE. Great pics.
About how long are these maybe 2-2 1/2" ?

I really wasn't paying much attention. They were on the guardrail next to the road, and I saw them when I stopped the car for a photo of something else.
