Here's an idea for a little fun.
First, you take a sunset picture well out of focus to capture colors.
Second, you open up Photoshop and start fooling around with a few techniques until you achieve something that looks good.
On this one, I first "Solarized" the shot to get some Aurora colors, and then added a light to represent a full shining moon.
Third, you add a little dark border and frame.
Fourth, you try to remember just how you did this.
A fun exercise and something a little different to try.

I'd call that a successful experiment. It is beautiful!
