Agree 100% - But then again I dont Admin the forum -If you'd like to see where this can lead, check out the Pentax Forum - they have so many cliques, rules, arbitrary removal of images that although I've been a memeber for years I cant yet figure out how to upload a image recently because you must create your own gallery which can be public or private, etc. --- hope this forum remains light and easy -

I have a feeling your new section is going to turn into a small clique that only those professionals will be able to use, which is good. It will be like eavesdropping on the teachers when they're planning your next pop quiz. I'll still be able to read it, even if I don't post, right? Some of that technical stuff is still Greek to me. Guess I gotta learn a new language just to use my camera, and I thought it was just a matter of pushing a button!!!

May I ask if this is for professional photographers or also for novices or beginners who photos are most likely less than adequate?

The level of skill doesn't matter. If it's about a specific issue with a photo, then it's OK to post in the analysis section.

Here is my take: At first, when I heard that this was a possibility, I did not know what to think. Then today when I saw that it was a done deal, I was a little skeptical. Then, when I checked it out, I whole heartily agree. Good Job, Admin!

I also noticed under the The Photo Gallery section, there is still a little critiquing going on anyway. This is a good thing. I like the fact that if I have something that I do want analyzed, I can simply put my photo there and get the help I need instead of the usual, "good job" or " it can use a little straightening".

I don't think it will be taken over by the "Pros". Instead, I think it will be quite the opposite. I think that there will be an abundance of expert photographers overviewing the photo analysis section on a constant basis just looking to help us less experienced.

Well done.

I agree with tainkc - now. At first I was totally against it, then I looked thru the picture gallery first then the photo analysis - and thought about it. Think I jumped too soon and now I don't think it's such a bad idea. Let's give it a try and see how it goes.

I would agree. The difference to me, is that if I go for "analysis" (no jokes here!)-- criticism is implied/expected; if I go to "pictures" section, I would expect comments along the lines of "great picture", "I love it", "I wouldn't change a thing", "I laughed; I cried; it became a part of me." Sorry! I got carried away!

I noticed that too. Hopefully it will come around and work as intended. I hope it is successful since viewing other's work and the critiques that follow help me learn and advance my own photography. And I need all the help I can get!

It is easier to go straight to a section that deals with analysis rather than picking through the picture section that has more "post 'em, praise 'em" pictures than those looking for a good, honest critique.

Yes, there were already some new topics posted with general questions like "What can I do to make it better?" instead of asking for specifics.

I'll be moving such topics to the gallery.
