About a year and a half ago, I bought a Canon 7d and a Zeikos battery grip, as of today, this unit works perfect and it is in my humble opinion as good as the Canon. There was a savings of $140 over the Canon brand. I figured, if it goes bad I would buy another and still save a significant amount of money.

I am looking to get a battery grip for my Canon xti. I cannot find any reviews on any of the sites I have found. Has anyone had any experience with the BG-E3 battery grip from Canon and are they really worth the money?m Or is it better just to have more batteries and change them when needed?

I have never had my Canon battery fail for a full days photographing. I fail to understand why anyone wants to carry a heavy load of batteries with the camera all day when just one spare battery in a pocket gives all the back up anyone could want. I know some just like the "feel" of the weight, but it does not make the photograph any better.

How many frames have you shot in one day? The last airshow I attended I took 1,400 pictures!

It's not about the extended shooting capacity. I've shot over 800 photos in a day with my Nikon D300, and there was still plenty of battery power left. The grip is all about being able to shoot in the portrait format, rather than landscape. When shooting sports, you lose so much when you have to crop a landscape photo down to a portrait format. To shoot portrait without the grip for more than a few shots, kills your shoulders. It forces you to hold the camera at a funny angle.

I had a grip on my Xsi and I have put one on my new T3i. I have larger hands and like having the extra size, especially when shooting it vertically. I also like the extra shoot time I get with the dual batteries.
