If you take like new equipment of any kind overseas, you would be wise to take the original sales receipt with you, just to be on the safe side. Customs can be a bitch.
It's been a while, but last time I went to Europe I took my camera and a couple lens. Customs had me fill out a form listing them before I departed. They kept part and I kept the other with me to present on return. No problems
So where are these brand new cameras bought from in the first place?? the answer has to be be from the Nikon factory itself, i think it stinks, they have to sell the cameras in the first place then refuse to honour the warranty.
And whats worst is here in the USA if you want to buy a Nikon or a Canon with a US warranty it's going to cost you a thousand or more dollars so it's not really such a good deal after all is it? Those big camera outfit's are betting you won't use it and you are in a sense betting you will! All in all I in my opinion is if you find a good deal go for it. Let's face it how many of you had any real problems maybe 1 to 2 percent of you. I have owned Canon cameras for year's and not once needed to send in for service!
