Beat me up. I need to learn. I cropped and sharpened it a bit in PS6. Thanks in advance.

IMHO, it would be better if the bird and the branches did not cross paths. There are 5 instances where they touch and it really takes away from the picture.

Seems to be a too dark, also.

It seems a bit dark to me. Did you try increasing the exposure in PP? The branches are a little distracting but birds are tough since their habitat is branches! Sometimes you just can not get the perfect angle. If they would just pose the way we want them to!

I would increase the exposure or bring up the shadows a little or both. It is nice and sharp though. Keep it up.

I like that you show all of the bird (not cut-off tail, for example :) ) and that with the buds on the branches, one can think spring must be just around the corner.

With a gray day, and perhaps your exposure, I'm not seeing that distinctive bright, red breast that would make the shot more appealing. You might be able to saturate the color and lighten the image a bit to bring that out.

If you are interested in some help with pp, check out the post-processing section of UHH. Lots of knowledgeable, friendly folks there.

A pretty good shot to start....I agree about adjusting exposure to lighten the image a little. Branches like someone else commented are part of the bird habitat and go with the territory. Keep shooting as there will be opportunities where a branch isn't in way. Perhaps someone is experienced enough to PP the branch out but I'm not at that level. 8-)

Very good. Now add more orange, and then do a general saturation just a bit and you should have it!

Technically a good shot - Focus - Lighting - Colors - Composition.
No wow factor at all - there are several great bird photographers on this site review what they are doing.
