Close....Closer....CLOSER....
As some of you may be aware, I'm working on my next book. The hardest part is always choosing the images. Not only do I have to decide what species I wish to include but also in what format. There will be some birds that are barely visible in a landscape setting and others that will be in flight over chosen bodies of water, fields or forests.
To give the book impact, some of the pictures will be extreme close ups. I like the idea of the reader getting a surprise when they turn a page and a pair of eyes is staring at them from inches away after they've just been lulled by a tranquil view of a meadow.
Here are some of the images that will make it. I hope you'll agree I'm on the right path.
All of these birds are wild. None of the birds were captive nor where the pictures taken at a rehabilitation center.
Not that I see anything wrong with that practice, it's just that I don't do it.
Side note: I'm not pitching a book. My books are not for sale. In case anyone wonders.
These are terrific, Joe.
Especially love the red-bellied woodpecker and sparrow, with their eye catchlight and feather detail.
Are these pics straight out of the camera or were they enhanced?

All of my pictures are straight out of the camera and then go into post processing, if that's what you're asking. I see no value in posting anything straight out of the camera.
They are simply stunning. I really love the red-bellied woodpecker. Your book should be a great success, good luck with it. Jude.
Joe, once again I am gobsmacked over the quality of your birdlife. If you don't sell your books how would one obtain a copy if they're interested .....as am I.

Does gobsmacking hurt, Bob? Sheesh I hope not.
Sorry my friend but the books are created as legacies for my grandchildren and a great grandchild, should they ever ask, "What did Grandpa do?" Thanks so much for the interest and the kind words.

Thank you so much Pat. Quite the response.
A really cool idea, Joe! And that barred owl image would certainly get my attention
So much impact in every one,Joe! I can just see a big open mouthed "WOW" with the turn of the page. I cannot imagine a more cherished, thoughtful gift--a part of you, straight from the heart.

Thank you Carla. All the kids have copies of the previous books and this one will just add to the collection. I know they appreciate what I create and I enjoy doing it.
