This is my first post. I just discovered this forum and reall enjoy all of the great information and pictures.
This is a picture of the Harbor in the little Village of Castellamare del Golfo Sicily. I added texture in photoshop to give it a painted on canvas look. What do you y'all think??

Hi Jim, and welcome to the UHH. Think the pic would look better without the texture, but that's just my opinion. Why don't you post more pics from your trip?

If the objects were larger, the texture would probably be a very good item. But with smaller buildings, the texture obscures them.

More pictures indeed. Looks like a photo heaven.

Thanks Sarge I agree about the small buildings being obscured. I printed it out an 8x10 on Matte Photo paper and framed it and actually it looks pretty good. This was the first time I used that texture and I should have toned it down by 1/2. I am going to try it on a picture with larger objects as you suggested

I have had pictures printed on canvas and now never do one smaller than 20x24,because of losing too much detail. On 11x14 and 16x20 prints I have them printed on linen. Works much better. Use the texture on a much lighter effect.

Thanks Photog; I agree that I was heavy handed with the texture.
