Swarovski ATS 80HD Angled Spotting Scope

The best I could find. It's set up with the UCA Swarovski/Nikon attachment. That works great, I can adjust from 20x to 60x (3,000mm) without taking the camera off, and I can easily take the camera on/off without readjusting the fit. This attachment is metal and completely stable, unlike the new rubber attachments. I have used it on a Nikon D200 and D7100.

If it works so great why sell it? I started holding a Coolpix up to my husbands Meade telescope and got some ok shots of climbers in Yosemite. It became a mission to get the perfect setup. Somehow my life changed along the way. The scope gets left at home.

It's in perfect condition, I would way rather have this setup than the $3,500 Swarovski that they sell now.

$2,500+actual shipping costs. Includes Scope, 20-60X eyepiece, UCA attachment, case.

Hello, can you advise how old the scope is?
Thank you.

I bought the scope in 2004. At the time, there was no way for me to get proper photos with it, so it was in a cabinet until 2011 when I found the UCA. That works very well. I think that I became more into the hunt for the perfect setup than in using it!

We travel in our RV 6 months of the year taking photos. I can't hike with the scope so it still lives in the cabinet.

I tell my husband that we need to take the scope to Alaska (15,000 miles @ 7 MPG, not gonna happen) he's a very practical man, he said "sell the scope".

Thank you for the information. My beautiful wife of 46 years passed away in 2004. I just moved from VA to NJ and am now at a condo on the beach. I have to check with some knowledgeable camera people to make certain the angled scope is right for my use from my 3rd floor elevated deck and other venues.
Ps: A very good college friend of mine is...Ed Martin... who was (still is ?) the Mayor of Venice,FL.

If I had a condo on the beach, I would keep it. Maybe I should suggest that to my practical husband.

I watched a Digiscope video yesterday that told why they preferred the angled scope. I think the link was on this forum.

I have a Swarovski HD ST (straight tube scope). I found on ebay last year a 1100 mm adapter for it and I have owned an 800mm adapter for years. It requires a mount adapter to put it on my canon lens. I think it is a K mount that screws onto the adapter and fits to the camera.
It is a really cost effective way to get into long lenses...need to tripod it since no IS and 800mm is f11 if I remember.

The color rendition is not what a canon long lens is but for the price you get a spotting scope and a super tele.

I don't know about the digitizing camera adapter. It seems to me it adds one more thing to the distortion.

If you are interested I could upload some moon shots and eagles taken through the lens.

The scope is really quite expensive...this is not a bad buy IMHO.

There is nothing between the scope and the camera, not even a lens. The adapter just holds the camera tight and perfectly centered.
