Good - this morning I got up the nerve to clean the sensor. Not perfect, but much better.
Bad - the pups knocked over a full cup of coffee, meaning I had to clean it and didn't get enough caffeine in me, and my wife yelled at me when I carried the dripping mop through the house.
Not so happy with this one, at this point I'm thinking less DOF would have been better to keep more of the pup in focus. Natural light from left, flash from right, I'm thinking flash was too strong.
Bad weather coming, will put out bird feed.

I think it's a fine photo. Try not to lambaste yourself too much. We all see flaws in our work. Personally, I think the focus and lighting are good.

thank you Jean and Mercer. The pups had a fun day in the snow, now late afternoon, they are napping. I thought I was going to get some good pics of them, but they heard me rumbling around and they woke up! It was dark and I didn't have time to add any flash lighting, so I quickly went with what I had at the moment.
