Old South Texas Farming Town..........
A few days ago, I took these pictures in the old town of Macdona, Texas, located a short distance south of San Antonio. The small town was established in the 1880's and presently has a population of approximately 550 people.
The remains of an old gas station caught my eye and I took a picture of it as well as the gas pumps in front of it. The gas pumps appear to be the type used in the 1950's.
I also took a picture of an old general store across from the Union Pacific Railroad tracks. The old store is no longer in business, and it appears to now be someone's home. At one time, the Post Office was located at the other end of the building.
These pictures were taken using a Sony A300 DSLR camera and vintage (1985) Minolta 28-85mm lens. Tejaswrangler :)
Great shots tejas. I really enjoy older subjects. Your second post of the old gas pumps is terrific. The old store tells a good story.

Dave, thanks for viewing the pictures. Please stay warm up there in the snow country! Tejaswrangler :)
These are great. I think we only think "ghost towns" are the result of old mineral mine booms long gone. But modern ones can be caused by hiway placement, manufacturing moves, loss of agricultural land, etc. Thanks for preserving a bit of history.

rocco_7155, you are correct, many become living ghost towns for various reasons. Thanks for viewing the pictures! Tejaswrangler :)
