I was expermenting with my camera and found a few nice shots ( I think ) right across the street from my house. I have heard a lot about one taking pictures in the snow. So please go easy as it was perhaps my first attempt with snow. These pictures are roughly a month old.
I was trying for a contrast between trees
the trees in the background are in a creek
this was my attempt of an up shot

Nice depth of field and I am glad I don't live there! I hate shoveling.

Well fdeak..guess I am sort of lucky as where my wife and I live the maintance people take care of the shoveling, salting and yes even cutting the grass. However I must say I do miss shoveling it used to keep me in shape.
Thank you for your comments I am still learning as you can see.

I'm not as fond of snow as I used to be, especially after this October. It appears to be a very overcast day. Somewhere between white balance and exposure, I think you might have done better. Snow, as others have noted, is hard to get right. It tends to show up blue, and very often, the texture is blown out if there are significant midtones and shadows to throw off your meter. I did a little post-processing in Photoshop on one photo, though I'm sure you'd rather get it out of the camera.

Mowing the grass in that snow must be a real pain. You should be glad someone else is doing it.

Richard you know you can repair my shots anytime. And I do appreciate your professional suggestions. And yes I would rather get it through the camera lens and not thru photo shop and yes I can do better but it takes a while especially with snow. Thanks my friend.

Was that "shots" or "shoes?" My eyes aren't what they used to be. Have fun next time you go out playing in the snow.
