Brand new Robins

Last year a robin made her next in under my back yard canopy. She concocted it out of strings, ribbons, paper and a conglomeration of other things. I was so excited and got out my camera, being careful not to touch anything and trying to angle a shot in the limited space. I also had to wait for mom to leave.

Her eggs were beautiful and the day finally came when they hatched ... I felt like a new mom! Unfortunately, when I went out the following morning everything was gone but the nest and I still don't know if it was the neighborhood cat or what-all that took those little babies

Thanks. I really was heartbroken when I discovered that they were gone. Not the nicest side of nature, but nature, nonetheless...

Cats are a leading predator of backyard birds. They do it for fun, not hunger. It's really sad.

Well that's pretty horrible! There's a cat that skulks around here and I don't know where he comes from but he's a snooty thing and when I try to scare him away he just looks at me like I'm bothering him. My son had 3 cats and none of them were as nasty at that one.

That's probably the culprit.
