Connecticut's idiot gun laws are the direct result of a knee jerk reaction to the mass shooting at Sandy Hook. The tea party had no impact on anything and most likely never will. Our state is completely Democratic controlled from the governor to the legislature.

I don't think it was a knee jerk reaction. Just a jerk (actually many of them) to take advantage of the situation to launch their agenda.

I've never heard of any involvement of any kind by tea party members, we don't usually buy off on that type of mindset when sober.

I guess we beat you to the punch on this gun control business and love complaining from Florida as I write this. By the way, the politics in Florida are even worse. In Ct the democrats are the bandits and in Florida it's clearly the Republicans! My desire is to live somewhere in between the two states where political dishonesty has at least the appearance of not being so bad!!

You know we didn't buy into it. Like most of the laws they create, they do it during the night when nobody is awake to see what they are doing. We find out on a Friday night and they hope we forget by Monday so they can do more.

I don't think this is as bad as it seems. If the law requires registration of certain types of guns, then having a gun that's unregistered is against the law. I'm sure the NRA is in favor of gun owners obeying local laws.

Many cities have amnesty days when people can turn in illegal firearms, no questions asked. No one who owns a gun legally is being penalized. If a mother knows that her teenage son keeps a gun in his room, maybe she can turn it in.

Guns aren't a part of my life one way or the other, so this is just an academic discussion for me.

This could just the start of our Freedoms completely going away. Too much of the people have APATHY, and have no idea what is happening, then there are the people who refuse to work and just have their hand out. It is scary to think we are turning into Greece rather quickly.

IMO - All of the problems START/END IN DC.........

And how many of the guns weren't registered? Several thousands? So who's going to be punished now? the people that didn't get their paperwork sent in before the deadline not the people that said screw off we aren't registering to begin with. What is the government going to do now? Start going door to door? I see this all getting reversed after some lengthy fights in court.

This is a reasonable comment, after 52 years in the gun business, guns have been my life, but I have to agree somewhat with this poster. If your legal, don't whine!!
