Just wondering about the focal drop off on the P520 or P530

I have "heard" both ways but wanted to find out from shooters that actually us them. Would it be a smart purchase or no?

Thanks everyone for your help.

that's ok Dennis, you don't shoot bridge..........what I was referring to is say you have a 24-1000mm lens and towards the end of that lens it starts getting blurred or color changes etc. not getting the full 1000m usage. that's all. maybe you should quit spending so much time in the barn.........................lol

Now I think I understand. I do shoot a Canon G10 and I know that even though it will zoom out quite a bit the farthest reaches are not recommended. You are right. I should not spend so much time in that barn. There aren't even lights in it. The last time I was in it there was also a rattlesnake in it as well. Thankfully I had a pistol with me so the snake is no more. I am not much for the reptile world.

Your crazy as ever, first you shoot with a canon, what, then you pick on a poor little snake. I should know you folks from southern cal are different, I worked out there long enough, my fault.
Any way I am glad you got it, that's what I call it, good old drop off. Now go back to work and have a Great day my friend..

Not to worry. It is the only Canon I own and I usually only take it hunting and fishing as it is somewhat small and sort of lightweight yet gives acceptable photos of me and dead things. Actually I am only a visitor to CA. I am from upstate NY and thereafter CO and WA with a small bit of CT thrown in.

Gracias for your comment amigo,

Dennis

I did a very unscientific test of my p510 here: http://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-161851-1.html

Take it for what it is worth...some of the comments are interesting also. ;-)

Dennis, now I see why your so confused. Great way to live just keeping the address straight is the real b.tch.
Jerry is from the catskill region, any where close to that? I hear it's a beautiful part of the country, never been there.
As SS would probably say, one canon is better than no canon.

The Catskill area may be nice in the summer but go further northwest up around Watertown in the winter and it just plain sucks. Had to make a parachute jump outside Watertown in January 1960 with ninety something inches of snow on the ground. I had smuggled an old Kodak Brownie camera with me on a Hollywood jump to take some pictures. We were jumping at 800' and by the time I got the camera out my hands were so cold I couldn't even take one picture. I thought I would never get on the ground. Seemed like I hung under that canopy forever.

Well I guess that wasn't even close to being on topic just an ancient memory of an old man.
