MY daughter got another guitar for Christmas (she usually plays a 12 string) and wanted a 6 string Taylor... I wanted a new lens.. She wanted pictures of herself with her new guitar--I wanted to use my lens. I hope they look ok on your monitor(s) 2 are only candlelight (plus a 40watt candlelight bulb) she got the cage and candles for Christmas too. We had fun experimenting

I have to say it was fun to throw "caution to the wind" and just play with the camera and lens rather than worrying about "perfect" lighting.
I have been trying to get lighting right to get rid of "odd" shadows. these are too dark for the dang shadows to cause too much havoc!

I like the first. She is actually playing and the candles set the mood. You could consider a little Post editing to light her face a little more without ruining the atmosphere but do not lose that original.
I do like seeing the subject in the last picture and it is an excellent photo but the first blows this one out of the water IMO. I think the pose in the second photo is great. She is looking at you with her heart. Keep playing with that lens. I would enjoy seeing more.

These are great. The first 2 seem "moodier"....remind me of old 60's Folk Album Covers

I really like #1...2 is too dark for me. I like #3 as it shows how beautiful she is...opposed to #1 being a little darker...but #1 is my favorite...great Christmas presents for you both....BTW...like the cage and candles. :)
