Hey Everyone!
I just got a Canon 3tsi for Christmas and I need to know ( a lot, actually), is it ok to leave the lense on the camera body or is it better to remove it every time I am finished using my camera? Thanks for anyone taking their time to answer my...question!

Leave it on. Every off/on is an opportunity for dust to enter and end up as spots on the sensor. Auto cleaning is nice, but the time will come when something gets on there that will require a physical wiping. No need to accelerate that occurrence. But it will happen.

if you do take your LENS off the camera be sure to put the body cap on your camera body and also put on the front and back LENS caps on your LENS.

Leave it on - less dust will get into the camera.

When you get another lens and want to switch them out, make sure you do it where the air is not moving (preferably indoors or in your car) and point the camera face down during the change.

Yes, everything here is true and I agree with it all. You could ask the same question about the battery so before you do I pull mine every time I store the camera, even over night. I'd rather error on the side of caution.

Good Luck

Thank you to everyone for your great answers!!! Wow, I hadn't even thought about the battery needing to be removed! Thanks for that tip!! Does it help extend the charged life of the battery when it's removed for storage, or to protect the camera in case of battery leakage?

That is interesting about the battery. I have never removed it and never will, but it is something to think about. At my age, I would almost certainly leave the house with no battery installed!

LOL, I make sure I immediately replace the battery when I take one out to be charged because I HAVE left the house without one. I do the same with the card...have come up empty there, too.

Well Captain I've heard stories about, and had, battery leaks. It may not be a problem any longer with Lithium batteries, I don't know but like I say, I'd rather error on the side of caution.

Happy 12. Hey, my age also - I keep everything in one bag so I can't forget anything as long as I remember to grab the bag... tee... hee.

I keep the lens on all the time. The battery also stays in the camera, less chance of foretting it.

The only time my lens is off is when I am changing to a different one.
