Luci's Back packing Trip, February 22nd - New Zealand, South Island - Day 145 - Only two days of New Zealand Tour Left
Another stop on the New Zealand Tour, another wonderful location for Luci and her fellow Back-Packers to enjoy and Photograph. The route they have taken is reproduced, at the end of the photographs, on this thread.

Luci flies from Christchurch New Zealand on Wednesday to Thailand. She will start her four weeks voluntary work at the Elephant and Dog Sanctuary there. She comes home on the 27th of March, bless her heart. So the travelling has almost ended but I am sure Luci will be sending photographs of dogs and elephants during the four weeks she will be in Thailand. I hope you good people have enjoyed the trip and the photographs, Luci has sent to us all. Maybe there will be trips she will take on her days off. and more sights of Thailand. We shall have to wait and see. Thanks to all who have emailed Luci and those of you who have followed her adventure on these threads and posted your lovely greetings to Luci, she is a very special daughter as you have found out, and her heart is full of love for us. My wife Jeannie and I have enjoyed it all as much as Luci has. We will never forget the trip and I'm sure Luci won't either. Luci emailed me yesterday asking If we can go horse riding together, I'd better get on a diet !!!! I don't want the RSPCA after me for squishing a horse.

Great photos. My back door almost. So photogenic such a vista needs thos panorama shots to do it justice. She will have to come back in the winter to see the country in a different mood.

One photo stood out, with the big rocks in the foreground.

You must mean Fig 43 it is a cracker, I agree, considering all the tour, Luci has used an iPhone and nothing else, she's my little star. Positive comments, coming from a New Zealander, referring to her photographs is fine praise indeed, thank you very much. The highlight of the five months so far has been New Zealand.
I will tell her when she Skype's later today, what you have said.

Yes, I checked, 43. Looks to me like very near the Mount Cook village, I've not been there for 19 years from memory. Luci has traveled what we call the Loop, or part of it, where they travel from Christchurch over the Arthurs pass to the west coast, down the coast, and through the Haast pass Central Otago and back to Christchurch. This earns them the (slightly derogatory) tiltle of "Loopies" . To be fair I haven't heard the term for a long time now, perhaps the general population is aware of the financial importance of tourism. I'm sure the majority of the locals Luci met were friendly, welcoming, and happy to show off our country. Nearly all of us are here by choice, or descend from people who came here by choice. Unlike Australians, whom we endearingly remind of their penal colony history. We have the scenery but we don't have your history, I love watching documentaries on your history, Tony Robinson program was on tonight, and the introductions to Antiques Roadshow are as good as the rest of the show.
Best wishes, Andrew

Luci has thoroughly enjoyed New Zealand, both Islands. They Started in Auckland and as you can check the route it has been a wonderful experience for her. Thanks for the information, to be honest with you Andrew I wouldn't mind doing the trip myself.

You capture my homeland beautifully, but I am sure Christchurch does not look like that now does it? Thank you for sharing these beautiful photos.

The last three photographs are as stated, Christchurch publicity material.
