I don't blame you. It seems like only yesterday I told Country's Mama that aspects of spring come very early to Yakima. Well, guess what - at the moment it is snowing heavily (and sideways)!!

Oh no! I think we're done with the ice and snow here, though it killed my winter-flowering shrub's blossoms, and most of my Jasmine plant, and I lost half an oak tree.... but other things seem alive and growing. I hope your snow doesn't stay long.

Half an oak tree - that's terrible. Do you think the remaining will be strong enough to withstand and survive?

No, I don't. It was a very bad break that went deep into the tree's trunk. It was about 18 inches in diameter. This morning I noticed that one of the big cottonwoods has shifted position, as well. They are known to fall... this is a bad sign. I'm probably going to have to get it cut down and I hope I do it before it falls. It could even reach as far as my house.

It is scary. I'm watching where I walk and keeping my fingers crossed. I've warned my daughter to stay away from the oak. It's still hanging up there by a thread and could finish falling any time. I'll post a picture. The fallen part is 70-80 feet long. This thing is heavy!
