Mt. Rainier...King of the Cascade Mountains.

The first pic is one I shot on the fly, coming down from the Marine Corps Memorial. Just looked over my shoulder...saw this great framing...dropped the bag, grabbed the camera, snapped the shot, and walked on to the car. It's also my profile pic.

The second pic is from the same day. We had gone up there to spread my father's ashes, part at the Memorial, the rest here where the source of the Nisqually River can be seen down below. The Nisqually is the divider between Pierce County (where he was born) and Thurston County (where he lived for a large period of his life)

The third shot is also of Mt. Rainer, shot from the ski area of Crystal Mountain. We were on a Mustang run with about 300 cars, and went up to the top of the ski run in July. A friend's mother had been up there waiting for the clouds to break so she could see the mountain, and finally got too cold. I waited an extra 10-15 minutes after they went down and the clouds parted for about 2 minutes. This was the best of the bunch. Made a 70something lady happy to get this pic. LOL!!!

Thanks sunshooter...it is the tallest of the Cascades. And pretty much visible from anywhere in Central part of I-5 on up to Canada, and from all over the east and west sides of the upper 1/2 of the state. Still an active volcano, it hasn't popped off in over 150 years. But...one of these days...<gulp>

so where is Copell TX? I'm originally from San Antonio myself.

You betcha! And the pink granite on the coast, as well. Just make sure you get further north than Kennebunkport in order to experience the "real" Maine :)

Glad I could awaken some of those memories for you. It is indeed a memory maker. Around these parts it is referred to as "The Mountain"..and everyone knows which one you are speaking of! LOL!!!
