I have a number of items that I would like to catalogue for insurance purposes. Items such as Hummel figurines, cameras, lens, etc. Has anyone used one of these tent kits, I see they range in price from $20. to over $500. If anyone has used or acquired one can you give me your comments as to what you believe is a good buy for the price. I don't want to spend a large sum because I don't know how much use I will get out of it after I do my initial cataloging of the items I have.
Thank you for you replies.
Take 3 pieces of foam core, (white), tape togather to form a U shape, light from above and behind camera with flash, with Kleneex over flash to soften shadow. One layer of kleneex. Will work for insurance purposes. Use a pale color for base, towel will work. Shoot with telephoto lens. An old Cheap Chuck trick.
Thanks guys for the help.

I bought one of these, a little more than $31. But big enough for real world uses. It comes, with the blue background pictured. But you will have to iron it, because it comes folded.
Getting it together the first time, is somewhat confusing the directions are not very good, at all. But its much easier, than a cross word puzzle. Aside from all that, it works real well, and is sturdy. And you can get some colored poster boards, for extra backgrounds.

I would like to see one or more of the units you contributors are describing. How about a photo?
Uncle,
You can also go out and buy a very inexpensive COTTON sheet, wash it to remove any sizing or optical brighteners. You don't even need to use any detergent just plain water. Reason for my putting cotton in caps, polyester or any other synthetic can floruesce if you're using flash for your light source and this would give you some wierd colrs in your products. The same thing applys to some detergents that clothes are washed in. The box or container will say if they are using optical brighteners.
I don't know what you're photographing but you can drape the sheet overa frame made from 1/2 flexible PVC pipe purchased at Home Depot or Lowes and you have just made a big softbox. It's fun and easy Enjoy and please post some results.
That is a very good deal. I have one without the lights. It sets up quickly from its own carry case, but having lights would be a big help. I'll add that to my Amazon Wish List.

They have them at the Walmart photo dept.
I have one of these Digital portable lighting studios. Added a black felt for when I photgraph jewelry.
Was thinking of adding a white background, anyone do this and for which purposes?????????????
I have one of these. It came with several different colors of background cloth, and I think 4 lights. I think I've used it once....works great, but only when I work it. Of course, I'm a gadget freak, and this seemed like a must have at the time. What WAS I thinking?
I have the same one as flytyer57. I really like it because it sets up easily and everything is stored together. The only issue I have is that the camera stand will NOT support my Canon T2i, only a point and shoot. No big deal though if youu hace a regular tripod.
First thing I did was get rid of the tripod. I think I gave it away as I did with a lot of the "LITTLE" P&S tripods .
