Restore original resolution

I learned a valuable lesson…I have a great photo of an eagle, and have edited it so much that it is now noisy. I should have saved the original in a different folder and duplicated it in another for the editing. Is there any way to restore it to it's original state? Or fix it somehow. I have Carbonite but I can't go back a week to find it…it is only saved as it is on my computer. Can anyone help?

Short answer is no, if its a JPG. Any changes saved are permanent and irreversible. In RAW the original is usually unaffected by changes and may be reverted.

Was the original RAW or JPEG and what software was it edited in?

Do a "Search" on UHH for "Deleted photo on SD Card" and view a few replies with freeware if you did not reformat your SD card.

Unless you can find the original you will be unable to restore the resolution. Here's a suggestion for the future....save your images as a tiff file. Convert only to jpeg for uploading and email but keep the tiff.

Thank you…I am just sick about this especially since now someone wants to buy a 16x20 print of it!

Maybe this will help. Deke shows how to enlarge a lo-res photo.

Gal, by Carbonite, do you mean you have the original somewhere in the cloud? I know nothing about Carbonite, but if the original is there, it must be there somewhere, I would think! Good luck. ;-)

Check out Topaz Denoise. If your Editing soft ware has reduce noise under filter.

I've done this before myself. Sorry to see it happen to someone else, the only silver lining is that you usually learn this lesson after having done it only one time. Hope you find a recovery venue.
