Early sign of Spring with a homemade Extension Tube

I shot this early bud on our Lilac bush. I used a 50mm Minolta Prime (reversed) attached to the camera with a 2" hubless coupling I bought at the local home improvement outlet (plumbing dept).

Focusing is next to impossible with even a slight breeze, but it's fun.

Yes, focusing with ext tubes can be a challenge. Try it indoors, where there's probably less wind.

I will have to light up my wife's plants and see what this contraption can do.

Are you trying focus by twisting the focus ring? If you are, you WILL find this to be quite frustrating. Try just setting your lens to either infinity or minimum focus distance - then move the entire camera-tube-lens combination forward or backward until the image is in proper focus.

Good luck! & post more of your macro shots.

Yes,the lens is on infinity with the aperture set at 1.7. The branch was blowing ever so slightly, but it was like shooting a moving target.
