Tired old Barn

I have seen this barn many times over the years and have always wanted to take a few pictures of it. I did so today and wish to show them to you and ask what you think. My next step as soon as it snows is to go inside and take a few pictures from the inside out. Soon these buildings will no longer be!

Buddy, you are a man of my own heart. As I drive around and see these old barns, a lot of them, deteriorating, collapsing. I feel an era in history is coming to an end. As a kid in the 50's I worked on a farm with my brothers. Having real creamy milk every day. Very few barns were skeletons like now. When I see a barn I want to photograph it. I used to use Tri-x and a yellow or red filter to bring contrast to the wood and detail in the sky. I am having a hard time with digital bringing out the photos I used to. I love your barn and your composition. I would recommend shooting it early in the morning light or in the afternoon light. I hope you don't mind if I post a barn I shot early one morning along route 9 in NY.

Nikron7; Thanks for the quick reply. There is a wooded area behind the barn but the weeds and trees have pretty much taken it over. I took a picture but I think it is too dark to display. I will wait until some of the brush has gone and it is more open for shooting. Thanks for your advice I will try the a/m and p/m shots later on into the new year.

I like your shots as well. Love the RED!

I like your old barn, but if you take a few steps back or back off your zoom you wouldn't cut the tip of the roof off. I will be looking for your winter snow shots.

Thank you Momma...I appreciate and I do know that I sliced the crown of the roof off. However ( and don't men always have an excuse?) It was misty foggy cold and I was on the edge of a two lane State highway 53 that is extremely busy. I should have waited and I will return when it is clear and not to cold with more lite. I promise you I will include the crown even if I have to go on the other side of the hightway to get it.
Those are the type of comments that I want to see. Thank you again.

and yes maybe even back off the zoomer!

I liked you barn photos. Here is an old barn I have visited more times then any other human in the last 10 years. It is changing its appearance every time I visit.

Now Olderguy...That is what I am talking about there is one just about 10 miles away that is falling down. I will get up there soon and shoot it while it is still standing and post it.

Thanks for your post and coments.

I love old barns too. Sadly they are leaving the countryside quickly. This one looks like it may be in Middle Tn or East Tn not in my part of the state.

Can I share my barn???? Nothing special to others but I grew up next to this barn, as the youngest of 10 kids (probably why the barn looks so worn now). Spent many days playing there under a big old tree which grew right beside the barn. On the left you can still see the backstop where my brothers had a basketball goal. My dad was a sharecropper and I spent a lot of time crawling around in a trailer of cotton parked inside the barn. And of course back then the cotton was picked by hand. A very special old barn to me. Ok, enough reminicing....

Good shots. The only time I get to see barns, old or new is in photographs. Thanks for the experience.

I shop in Jackson and live on 45 almost to the Ky state line.
There are not many old barns like this around any more. That's a good one.
