Very nice! I find the elk to be magnificent and interesting animals. I especially like the last shot. I have only seen them once when we were in Jackson Hole. Thanks for sharing these, Linda.

Very nice shots! How far away from the elk would you estimate you were? I am impressed with the SX50. I've seen some really nice pictures coming from this p&s camera.

Thank you all so much for your nice comments!

Saleavitt - I'm very bad at estimating distances. This is a wide open, flat "field" with no landmarks between fenced perimeter and where they were at back. Definitely more than 200 feet :) Yes, the SX50 (a bridge camera, not point n shoot) offers a lot for the money!

Linda, please consider offering your photo #2, minus any application of filters, to the PP forum. This photo is just ripe with multiple crops, interesting animal groupings, and gorgeous patterns of grass.

Thank you all for the kind words and for taking the time to view and comment. I really appreciate it!

Mike - the first time I visited this place I expected it would be fun to see 50 or 100 elk all gathered in one spot. Well, you could have knocked me over with a feather when it turned out there were NINE hundred!!

These are all remarkable, Linda. The second shot is fantastic, and can easily see that one framed. Gorgeous! Enjoyed seeing the variations done with it on the PP forum. Thought it was quite interesting that Bob chose a summer filter, while I myself used a winter one, lol.

A great shot, either way. Excellent work!!!

Brown on brown. They tend to blend in, don't they.
