Lens Testing

There was a discussion here about testing a lens for focus. I did some Googling and found this site. It offers some test charts to print and lots of information.

What I don't like about his method is to "have it printed to check it" great so now is the printer off or the lens... one more variable thrown in :)

Of course, but I realize that going in. It will be an afternoon project for me. Even if the printing isn't perfect, I'll be able to compare lenses, focal lengths, and apertures - using the same sheets.

The simplest way to test a lens is to take a photograph of a flat piece of newspaper and see how sharp the image is on a good screen. This will give a really good indication as to how sharp your lens is.
