I sent the attack poodle outside this morning so he could relieve himself. He had suffered a long night of snoozing by the fireplace. Soon after he exited, I heard him announce the presence of guests in the back yard area. His bark was tentative and almost muffled. It was the type of bark he produces whenever something fails to flee the first yap. When I opened the door, he gave one last quick "company's here" bark and ran inside to hide.
The guests noticed the noise but, were obviously not too concerned. They lingered for a few minutes and, I was able to get a quick couple of shots.
Interesting that all have their ears up, but several are watching their "6", quality shot

Great shot, Rick!
Thank you. I'm too lazy to hide in the forest and look for shots like this. Glad they took the time to come to me.

Yes, they do maintain their awareness of the surroundings. They travel from the woodline to the lake quite often. They don't really care for humans (with good cause based on the amount of gunfire heard in this area during hunting season).
Nice of him to round them up for you. Nice shot.

Thank you. I doubt he did much rounding. He barks and chases anything that flees. He doesn't really want to catch anything. He just wants to kick up grass with his back legs and strut around briefly after a very short chase.
If something stands its ground, he throws on the brakes and yelps like a injured puppy. :)

Yes, I don't envy the folks still dealing with it. It's supposed to be in the mid to high 70s here today. But, with that comes the inevitable chance of severe storms to follow.
Great shot,Some real beauties.
