I just won a blue ribbon at the Nebraska State Fair...Black & White division - class: machines. If memory serves me right, the original photo settings were all "automatic" and all I had to do was crop.

Your opinions? (Please be kind...I'm a greenhorn. ) :P

first congradulations on winning a photo contest right out the gate. In 43 years of photography i have never won a contest. second i like your shot. The selection of black and white and the subject matter.Besides classic cars as subjects I like nuts bolts, handels pipes all sorts of weird stuff. great shot post more of your work.

I like that photo just the right amount of contrast very nice.
Years ago I only got only an honorable mention at the Texas State Fair.
I used B/W film the subject was a black cat , it was on a fence with Mimosa tree branches surrounding it's body.
I wanted it to look like a panther licking it's chops, so I fed the cat tuna out of a can (almost the whole can before I got the shot)packed in oil.
Keep up the good fun.

Wow...thank you so much. I am humbled. My camera provides me with the opportunity to take a color and b/w image at the same time. I really like it in color too...the rusted wheel with the green grass is a nice contrast, but I was short a b/w entry so I used it to fill my quota. Must have been the right choice, eh? :-P

Never in a hundred million years would I have ever thought of making such an obviously colorful picture, with its rustic rusty metal bars and bolts and nuts and wheel spokes, and its green leaves and reflective rain drops into a black and white picture. It’s a truly amazing. You deserve a blue ribbon, if for no other reason than for being so creative.

Thanks. It's amazing what you can find right outside your door. Lookin' at the not so obvious. <giggle>
