As the title suggested, what's the most challenging one to you? Wildlife, sports, portrait, landscape, or Astrophotography? To myself, it is portrait photography. Those everyone can take a good portrait photo, but it is really hard to take impressive one.

I concur. I have no desire to do portrait photography.

My lowest percentage of keepers is from portrait photography. It's either because of lighting, exposure or subject's facial expression. Plus, people can be very difficult, especially in groups. Next lowest percentage of keepers is in sports photography. There it can be focus issues, catching the right moment, positioning relative to the subject, and the usual technicals like shutter speed, aperture and ISO. Btw, with sports photography, it's rarely about frame rate, and I use a minimum of 6fps.

Certain types of birds that won't be still for a nano second or they get behind a twig or other distraction. People will remain still for as long as it takes------with the exception of children.

For me, it has to be naked women. I can not seem to get a woman to pose for me. Then again, I can not seem to get a woman to be in the same room with me; including my wife.

Street photography. Particularly in situations with strangers up-close. You have to be able to think fast and know when it's best not to shoot.

I guess so. They seem to be my nemesis.

This is a very thought-provoking question. I think the first step for me to answer is to decide what it means for some type of photography to be challenging. While the technical stuff could be a problem, the real issues I have are, "What makes a picture good and why." With portraits, I've figured out what works for me: capturing expressions which represent the person. With sports, it's showing the action, especially the speed and power, so it's conveying the 4-dimensional situation in a 2-D image. With wildlife, it's showing interesting animals doing interesting things, and trying to show that they are beings with intelligence and emotion. But with landscapes, I don't know, and that makes landscapes the biggest challenge for me.

Sports and Portrait. Mainly because I have no interest in them. If I did, I would work through the challenge.

Street - I am very uncomfortable grabbing images of people without their consent when I am close enough that they are recognizable.

Portraiture and weddings for sure because I don't like to do them even though it is the most lucrative photography available to me. I applaud people that do this for a living as it is a true art form.

Any time I do street photography of people, instead of just "scenes", I get their consent and end up with pictures that are far better than hidden candids, the vast majority of the time. I've found that if I make people aware of the fact that I might be taking their picture, they typically cooperate.
