If the zoom is going nuts, I'd take the camera back to where you got it and have them check it out, or have them tell you how to correct this. By all means, do check your batteries, to be sure that they're well charged - nothing works well with down batteries! On the other hand, use the continuous focus just for subjects in motion - it's more of a follow-focus setting! Like GESSMAN said, let us all know how this works out so we can store it in our faq's for future reference!

Thanks for all the input. I have talked a Canon Tech and told me to reset the camera, which I did and it still does the same thing. They said send it back to them and they would fix it or replace it. But I'm taking it back to Best Buy where it was purchased. Canon seems to think there "IS" something wrong with it.

Vickilaney! Good idea - if you've had it less than 30 days, most stores will give you a replacement without too much fuss. I know that is Wal~Mart's policy for the first 30 days with electronics - after that, it's you with the manufacturer's. Just make sure there is everything in the box as you got it. Good Luck with the new camera!
