I have received an email from Topaz offering their Simplify program for 50 percent off until February 28th. I understand it's intended use is to make " paintings and drawings" from photo images.....I am wondering if any of you have used Topaz Simplify, and if so, how you have used it?
I use Simplify. I never use it alone though. I think just the Simplify filter makes the photo look too, well simple. If Topaz is also offering the whole suite at a discount that might be a better value for you.
Check out my website, especially the pano section, for a lot of samples of Simplify not used alone.

Alison,
Thank you for your assistance! I do have several Topaz programs but not Simplify and after viewing your Pano art I can see some possibilities.
Your work is exceptional!
I use both Adjust and Simplify on every photo I do. Wouldn't be without it. The secret to it is to keep the opacity low, so that you get the benefit of the program without making it glaringly obvious that you've done something to the photo.
At fifty percent off, a bargain, and one of the best programs I've ever purchased.

It's so cheap right now with that discount, go ahead! You won't regret getting it if you enjoy the artsy side of photography. I enjoy making painting-like and sketch-like images out of photos, but I also like using it at a reduced opacity with a standard photograph to enhance various aspects as a part of regular post processing, to get a little extra contrast or depth. I suspect you'll have a lot of fun with it.

Thank you very much for posting information about this discount. Topaz sent me an email yesterday containing a video about using Simplify. After watching it, I'm sold. I want it and with the discount I'll buy it. However, I do a lot of transformations to my photos. I like to turn them into paintings and illustrations. If you like that too, it would be worth the modest cost.

Yes, and I just downloaded the newest Simplify-4. Certainly at half price it is a grab. Over the course of previous years all have been offered at half price and always with the Webinar live comes thirty percent.
Practical use beyond fun, well there is a seminar on photo restoration in which dust and scratches disappear. Artistically the simplified photo can be blended at a percent to season the original with a hint of the simplified. Many presets are provided and remember you can do an OK and the reopen to add other effects in Simplify or other mod programs.
One that tempts me is the line drawing which if printed on water color paper opens the world of brushed art hybread, interesting any way you slice it. Laser would retain the line; inkjet would to a degree blend with the water color adding alcohol to the "water" would loosen the inkjet line as well as the artist. Sorry, could not resist the humor !
Oneone Perfect 8 is free for the rest of the month... although if you Google it you will find some reporter states January 28th.. as I recall January has 31 and February 28 although that is unreliable. :?:
Here is the link OnOne provided me:
http://www.ononesoftware.com/landing/pe8offer/I relieved an EMail from Onone and downloaded and installed three days ago and they, after filling out personal info, EMailed a "full use" not temp serial number.
Have fun. Topaz is Power!
I just purchased "Simplify" a couple days ago, this link is to my first attempt at using it. I use it with CS6 and I also used a gradient overlay on this before applying "Simplify". I like enough to enter this shot in the next art show.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/archer01/12540688093/I just bought it and already made a gorgeous b&w image which I can't post on UHH yet because it looks too much like my anonymous photo contest entry for this week. :P What a great deal for $19.99 until the end of February. You have to use coupon code "febsimplify" when you order to get the 50% discount.

I have Simplify 4.0 and you will find it well worth the money. This is a very versatile program. The control on the right side of the screen allows you to do numerous final adjustments to any effect and preset. You can also save your final adjustment as a personal preset. You can download a trial version to see if you like. At $19.95 this is a steal!
I have used Simplify 4 and am very satisfied with the results I get. It is reasonably priced and worth the cost.

Since you can't take the time to punch the "quote reply" button, I'm not going to search through 14 posts to figure out who you're criticizing. But since you obviously understood what was meant, what are you bitching about?
