Thanks for the post. As is all to common, the fear merchants latched onto a fact and, without considering context, blew it all out of proportion. Does anyone smell Rush Limburger, er, Limbaugh in this?
You are perhaps a bit too naïve and accepting of a superficial explanation. Anyone who has tried to but ammunition for the past two-plus years- almost all calibers for rifle, pistol and shotgun, have found empty shelves for the most part, and extremely limited quotas for what little is available. This is due in no small part to the efforts by the anti-gun movement, supported by the Obama administration. Ammo manufacturers have been hog-tied with supposed "environmental" regulations that all but shut them down. Still other restrictions and prohibitions further restrict ammunition availability. Some manufacturers have attempted to relocate to other states (e.g., Texas) that invite them with open arms to set up production facilities, only to have the door slammed shut by the feds. This is a carefully orchestrated effort that is proving most successful. The curious should certainly be asking themselves why. There simply is no way to justify the humongous amounts of ammo being purchased by DHS. The explanation that hollow-point ammo is required for target practice is beyond ludicrous-- much less the amount.
So go on and believe what you will, and keep drinking the government propaganda cool aid-- you may well need it.

Frankly, a TSA task force with the means to have a major shootout in some airport or other controlled area scares the hell out of me whatever their lame explanation!

I don't drink cool aid but this is pure bunk!!!

Well good for you, you are supposed to think that this is all smoke and mirrors. It is too hard to consider that there may be explanations other than the ones spoon fed by the mainstream media.
After all, they have never been wrong, have they?
I have heard of many guys buying as much ammo as possible whenever they can, that's why the shelves are empty. They are doing it for several reasons. The first one is paranoia, and the second is greed as they are then selling the ammo at inflated prices.

YEP!!! A brick of .22 cal ammo used to cost from $12-$16 or so, now it'll cost you $80 + "IF" you can find it....

Life must be great in La-La Land. Enjoy it while you still can. But if you ever do get curious about the real world, do some exploration-- you would frankly be surprised about the amount of information- and I emphasize information, as opposed to propaganda- about what potentially lies in store for our nation, especially as concerns DHS contingency plans for "national emergencies," that include dozens or more temporary holding (read that as prison/ concentration) camps already constructed and in place ready for use at locations across the country, mass stockpiles of tens of thousands of plastic coffins stacked like so many egg cartons, mass interment plots and so much more. Then ask yourself why DHS has purchased 1 1/2 billion rounds of hollow-point ammo-- so far.
I already know that you'll summarily dismiss all that I have just written-- you think I am certifiable and in need of a padded room and strait jacket. So be it, but that makes it no less true. But do make that effort, all the same. And if you know someone on the "inside," as I do, ask them-- they might be surprisingly candid about sharing details about the above. But do be prepared to be surprised at what you learn. And keep your kool aid handy-- you'll need it.

Funny, I see the same pretty equally from people on both sides of the aisle.

Just curious....what fear mongering do you see from the Democrats ? I watch Fox and you would think the sky was falling.

Odd, I find this the case with the left wing. Obama's entire and current campaign was based on fear of republicans out sourcing jobs, cutting welfare, cutting food stamps. etc
Name one aspect about the 2012 campaign that was not a negative attack against Romney.

I watch Fox and Fox business all day long as part of my business and I do not see any of this. In fact Fox has an equal number of Liberal commentators. I wonder if you can name them.

Recently, Obama used one of his goon agencies, the EPA, to threaten and shut down the last remaining lead smelter in the USA. This will harm small airplane aviation (the last user of leaded fuel) which Obama detests. The action is also designed to harm gun owners because lead is used for bullets and it will be much more expensive to import lead or try to find recyclable lead.
