Have you checked out Ken Rockwell's reviews ?

Neither are cheap, but from what I read, image quality is tops. Remember, Fuji has made great film for years and knows how skin is supposed to look.

Hello Modest,
I'm on my first vacation in 10 years, and have no photo posting capability until I get back. But I am in love with the X10. It packs in an insane amount of bells and whistles if you want them, but the RAW and full manual control coupled with the ability to look thru a view finder to compose your shot put it over the top to buy, and I haven't been disappointed yet. Awesome low light, and it's inhumanly fast. I'll post some straight out of camera when I get back next week. But for now I have to get offline before my wife catches me here! Lol!
Happy New Year!

So here are a couple of shots. They were shot jpg and all I did was re-size in Photoshop. I played around with a ton of the settings.
I'm also including a pano shot straight out of camera.

I have experienced some distortion in a couple of the auto sp settings, but other than that it's a pretty awesome camera. I would definitely not have thought it was as complex as it actually is. But I would still recommend the camera.
All of my shooting was done thru the view finder window. The first shot was one of the advanced modes. The second shot is full manual. And the third is the panorama mode.

It is definitely the most fun I've had with a "point-and-shoot." The viewfinder is awesome, and the build is amazing and not cheap. If your interested in the video side, the camera shoots amazing HD footage.

It is very much a boutique camera, and not cheap either. It is cheaper than the Leica, and the X100, and significantly more expensive than the Panasonic LX5 (Second Choice), and the Nikon S9100 which were the others that I had played around with. I didn't want interchangeable lenses, and the Canon G12 was a bit on the big size.

So for low/no light, video, walk around, and aesthetic use, feel, and display, the X10 gets my recommendation. The money saved from the bigger boutiques was worth it for me. If you want to save some cash, I would recommend the LX5 but the digital viewfinder attachment left much to be desired for me. The S100 was also very nice, but the lack of a viewfinder ruled it out fairly quickly for me.

I'm 100 percent happy, and can't wait to learn, and conquer this hunk of metal.

This is 11:30P.M. in downtown Boston. The shot was scaled in Photoshop, but is otherwise out of camera. This is handheld using the low-light feature. There is some noise present, but I'm pretty confident that if shot in full manual, the problem could be compensated for. Also there is a second Low Light function that assumes you have a tripod. I have yet to use that mode.

Thank You Tripsy. Your input, images and insights have helped make up my procrastinating mind. Don't really care about video but the viewfinder feature very much a plus in my thinking. Panorama too. Thanx again. Happy Snapping.
