LR Catalogue Backup

I have set my preferences for Lightroom to back up my catalogue every week. Is this an incremental backup or a backup of my entire catalogue every time a backup is performed? My hard drive is getting full and I would like to store the working catalogue on my internal solid state drive and my photos and backup catalogue on an external drive.

be sure to make lightroom do it. if you want to lightroom ever to find them again.

If you do not write LR metadata to the files, the Catalog database backup will be the only protection of your editing work; but backing it up does.

Each week it's a new complete backup, but you don't have to keep all the backups. Only Keep the last 2 backups.

I choose to make my backup routine happen outside LR, because there is more I want to backup than just my photos and catalog. Most backup software simply gives more options for the type of backup I want to do.

Incidentally, I use SyncBackSE. They have a free version that can be downloaded. I've used it for years and it's never failed me.

The LR back up is small...the Catalog is small..you shouldn't be filling up a drive with this for sure.

As I see it..there isn't a reason to move the catalog to another drive.

But it makes sense to do the catalog backup to another drive.
Along with backing up the images themselves.
