Question about ring adapters

My husband bought me a LED Ringlight but the smallest lense adapter is a 52mm and does not work on my macro lens. Is there a "trick of the trade" to get it to work or will I need to purchase a seperate ring adapter?

If your lens is say 49mm you will need a step-up adapter from 49mm to what ever size the ringlight takes.
