Just trying to get a pro and con of each.
Nikon doesn't shoot video at all, which I am concerned with. But to try and start my own business...should I really be concerned with that aspect?
Which do you believe is better and why?
First, welcome. Second, many Nikon models DO record video, so that assumption about your choices is incorrect. Third, use the search function at top of "Home" page, type in Canon v. Nikon or vice versa and you'll get volumes of opinion that has been laid down here since the site's creation!

LL, welcome to the Hog.
Hey, video is important if your business is video!
LL, I prefer Canons because there is a lot more Canon product out there both new and used.
But for me, far and away more important is the availability of a lot more lenses, and they are faster and lighter, both very important to a pro. I think you mentioned being in business.
That aspect alone, makes Canon, for me, my choice. Those are the only reasons I shoot a Canon. When the other brands can match Canons lens line-up, I'll consider them, but not until then. More Canons are sold than any other brand for a reason. Go figure. ;-)
Good luck.

The Nikons do shoot video.
Again, what business specifically? It's hard to tell if you should be concerned about video if we don't know what type of business. Even in the photography world, there are different ones, like portraits, weddings, sports, wildlife, etc.
Video would be purely personal...

Lilith, Nikons do shoot video.
If video is important to you, then you may like to check out the latest offerings.
The early DSLR cameras that did video did not autofocus while in use.
But some of the more recent offerings do.
This may be an important spec for you.
Regarding Nikon vs Canon - that opens up a whole bunfight everytime it is mentioned with some people getting quite heated and irrational about the subject.
My personal opinion is that Canon has a better lens range - but that will be irrelevant if Nikon has the lenses you need.
And my opinion is that Nikon has better sensors with more friendly noise characteristics for low light work but the difference may be marginal.
Depending on your budget I think you will be happy with either - if you buy the right model.
They both make good solid quality items.
The good news is that you're not likely to make a bad decision. The bad news is you actually have to make a decision to get started.
What is your total budget? Would you need a flash? Are you going to tell us what type of business? :-)
Although my Nikon D40 doesn't shoot video, most Nikons certainly do. For me it doesn't really matter much as I prefer to use a dedicated video recorder anyway.
Rac, if you say "Pentax", one thousand times, fast, your face will stay contorted for a week!

Go to the Photo Gallery and see if you can figure out what kind of camera took the photo. As someone said between the two you mentioned Nikon and Canon you can't make a bad choice. Just go with the one that feels best in your hands.

Canon users are much better at PP than Nikon users and there is a reason  Okay that's a load of BS I was just kidding folks
Nikon doesn't shoot video at all???
Nikon invented the video in a DSLR market with the D90. Where do you get such foolish information?
