It was snowing on the way to Durango, Colorado this afternoon, and when I got out of my truck, I noticed a muddy layer of ice had formed on one of my rear hubcaps. I photographed it quickly because I thought it would melt!
I fixed your image extension.
I'm speechless.

I'm going to hazard a guess here. Is this photo a composite. If it is, it is a very good one. I've just never seen snow freeze to a wheel like that.

Ebrunner, it's not a composite! It's straight out of iPhoto and into Elements with just a tweak on saturation and contrast. If I were to hazard a guess, it's that the metal must have been below freezing as I came over the high pass near Hesperus ski area and as I dropped down a bit, I went through an area that had been sanded by the snow plows, then it melted into a slushy mess, and as I was driving, the spray froze against the metal rims of the tire which hadn't yet warmed to air temperature. That of course is just a SWAG (scientific wild-a$$ed guess)!
You know, some people would want to buy cool ornaments like this! (of course made from a substance that would not melt)

I once made an ornament that looked like that. It was a sunburst. It was made with baked homemade playdough.
