Well, I have a D600 and a D7100 among many others, I had a D800 which I prematurely sold, a little overkill but at the same time the best resolution I ever experienced.
Now I am toying with the thought of getting the new Df, and would like to see what owner experiences are, I enjoy general photography, hardy ever portraits, maybe nature a bit, I love the looks of it and the specs, not sure if the investment would be worth it, so I like to see some input from current users please.

I am friends with Andrew Hancock, a Nikon Ambassador, and he says that he loves his Df. You'll see some of his published work on the cover of last months Sports Illustrated.

An interesting take on the DF...

Note that toward the end there are really interesting comments on the dials vs the digital controls and how they contradict each other....

If you are worried about investment forget it. If you want a great camera that is fun buy it. - Dave

The photographer who has the D600 and D7100, but decided he at some point he did not need the D800, does not need the Df.

The collector who has/had the D1X, D2X, D100, D200, and D800, clearly needs to add the Df to the list. :-)

In most cases I would agree with you ... but .... the Df has the same sensor as the D4 does it not?
Low light performance rather than pixel count may be a good enough reason to get one.

Awesome!!!

I particularly appreciate that the one person who says that the D800 is "the superior beast" says it's "for perverts". :-)

Yes, it has excellent low light performance. But is it significantly better than the D600? I don't think so.

If someone said, "I have the D5200 but I've outgrown it, especially for low-light photography, so I want a full frame camera. Should I get the D600 or the Df?" I could understand answering, "Get the Df." But if they said "Should I get the D600 and the Df?" I'd say "I really don't think so." And if they said, "But I have $3k that I must spend on photography!" I'd suggest a new lens, like a Zeiss wide-angle.

Oberuwe- I bought it a month ago and traded in my D700. I was looking for a camera not a video camera. This one has a dynamite
sensor. I'm loving it.

The DF to me is a fun camera. But I already have a d800 and a d600 backup body.

I don't think modern digital camera's are really an investment. My opinion.

Considering what you already have, I don't really see the need for the DF. Of course, if finances allow it, and you just plain want the camera, then I would go right ahead and buy it. I like the old school look of the camera and it does have a nice sensor built into it. I'm sure the IQ is fantastic. Of course the 600 is no slouch either.

+1. You have an extraordinarily capable stable of Nikon bodies already, with which the Df would get along very nicely. I for one am a fan of having choices (!), depending on my mood and what I'm shooting, but If I had all of those bodies available to me in my house, and then added the Df, I would be conflicted and a little confused as to which to use. I would even to tempted to shoot the same subject at the same time with more than one body! Yet, if I had to part with one or more of the bodies, I again would be very conflicted. I suppose the oldest would have to go to make room for the Df (since it is an "old" design, or at least reminiscent of one).

I myself would buy something more for need than want but if you have the extra cash go for it. Is not the DF far superior in low light to the d600? ? I'm not sure but that is what I heard. If I were to get it that would be one of my reasons and the simplicity of the dials then the old school looks of coarse.

If the camera fits, buy it.
