Hi,
Which is the best camera to buy for a beginner?
Jose
Jose, most camera's will do a good job out of the box. I'm also new to taking pic's so I understand what you are going through. Your best bet is to talk to someone who is in the know like a camera shop. I did and came away with a different view than what I went in with. For weeks I read all the ad's stopped at all the big market stores talked to dozens of people some of which knew what they were talking about, and others who didn't. Okay getting down to the meat of the matter. 1. Deciede what you want to Photograph. 2.Understand the cost involved. 3. Talk to a pro. In other words do your homework. Then buy what meets you needs. I bought a Canon EOS D60 with a 67mm x 18mmx135mm lens it is proving to be a great walk around camera and easy to use. Good hunting.
If you're just starting, I recommend my camera - the Canon SX30is (Big point & shoot )- it'll do wide angle, action, soft focus, landscapes, macro, and has 35X zoom ! Some other commenters have said (And I agree) - pick it up & see how it feels - if you hate the way things look theu the viewfinder, no matter how good it is, you won't like it. (I don't expect to outgrow the Canon for a couple of years, at least, and the learning curve is not too steep)

I agree. Almost
The Nikon P1000 will take almost any shot you want, or think

The Nikon P1000 wasn't available 11 years ago when the post to which you are responding was written.

If you're going to be with this beginner to help then it would be a used high end camera. If you just give the camera and let the person on his/her own then it would be a brand new low end camera.

Does anyone really care, now 11 years later?
When someone hits <Last> instead of <Next> when navigating the Main section, you can find all kinds of musty old threads ...

And all it takes is one miss-stroke of the keyboard by someone, and then the thread springs back to life a decade later!
