Violet is getting bigger and sat for a quick portrait.
Violet was the only Pug up at 5am this morning and she was sitting so nice on the arm of the easy chair that I pulled out the softbox and got a few shots of her...
I realize she's fading into the black background and I should have rim lighted her but ....hindsight...

Really nicely done. I like it like it is.

I like the black background. Good shot.

Very cute. I think there is no need to highlight the edges. The essential character of the dog comes through. Eyes and snout are sharp. The rest is gravy. Well done.
I love the shot. The black on black is well done. No need for any changes.
Great shot! All the personality shines through.
thanks everyone...she's adorable here...but right after this shot she ran to the back hallway, I THOUGHT she was going to go out the doggy door like a big girl...but she decided to lay one right inside the door on the linoleum!
She knew she was busted...she slunk away and hid under the table.....arggg....not so adorable then.
I do like this shot and since I am not a portrait photographer I didn't miss the rim lights.
My sister is a dog trainer and she always says to house train a puppy get a roll of newspaper and when the puppy has an accident take that roll and firmly smack yourself in the head and say. "You should have been watching the puppy!"
:)
I didn't mention it before but the lens that took this was a $50.00 lens from 1978. :)
Before i softened it up you could cut your eye on the sharpness.

As captured, it draws the viewer straight to Violet's face, which is where you want the viewer to look. Wonderful portrait just as it is.
