Couldn't resist - I got a new fish for Christmas, so it was time to break out the DSLR and try this out. My last effort was with an old Fuji Finepix 5100 a few years back.
Anyone else done fish shots lately? (These are jpg originals, not from raw).

Trip to the State Trout Hatchery Yesterday. The State of Connecticut releases 600,000 10-12 inch trout into its streams and rivers and lakes each year from 7 hatcheries. each truckload of trout with water weighs 11 tons.
An aside: hatcheries are great places to see raptors and birds of prey(eagles, hawks, osprey).....its like a buffet for them!
Brook Trout
Brown Trout
Rainbow Trout
Oh yum! I mean, great pics! :-P
That's a good idea about the hatcheries. I used to know a guy who farmed fish in his pond - herons and egrets used to show up daily.

Since you asked, I hope i'm not hijacking.
Not all all, and nice shots! I can never get a decent picture of a lionfish. Like the gourami, too - another hard one to get.

LOL on #1. I hadn't thought about koi, but they are pretty, and a bit of a challenge. I like these - I'm thinking the fish might have been clearer with a polarizing filter to kill the reflections (I think that's how they work). it looks like a really nice place.
Great pictures everyone !

You're right - a polarizing filter would have been the thing to use in these pictures but for some reason I didn't have it with me that day. The photos would have turned out much nicer. It is a very beautiful place, especially in the dead of winter. It's like being in the tropics...

Wow - that's a pretty one!
Love all the fish!!! This is one of my Koi. She is the oldest one that I have.
Nice shot! That fish looks like an art carving.
