We have the occasional discussion about posting images to UHH and what size they should be. The pictures below are unprocessed. The first measures 4928 pixels on the long side. The second is 100 pixels. The third is 500 pixels. The last one is 600 pixels, and it appears to be the same size as the first one.

I never post mine full size Jerry, they take longer to upload and as we view them on our monitors, anything bigger than that is not much point. I also cannot see any difference in IQ...

Right. I just wanted to see what would happen. Apparently, 600 pixels is the maximum uploaded size, regardless of what the poster selects. The 100 px image is definitely lower quality.
Without clicking the Store Original option, we can't see anything larger than 600 pixels wide here unless they are 'hot linked' from another site.
If you click the Store Original UHH shows a 600 pixel wide thumbnail plus the 'download' link to download and view the full size.
By making a 'copy' that is 600 pixels wide, the color and definition will not be degraded by the UHH thumbnail creation.
Good examples!

Yeah, I just wanted to see what would happen. As someone else said, 600 pixels is the magic number.
