Believe me this is not a criticism in any form against anybody. On this forum I see many cases of incorrect spelling. I just wondered how important it is.
It is to me but I'm sure to many people it does not matter a jot. It might to a prospective employer but that depends on the job. You don't need to spell if you are, say a bricklayer but you might if it was a clerical job.
I am not talking about the differences between US and UK spelling. US spelling always seems to me to be logical.

I know what you are saying. I'm over it, it is now a form of entertainment to me. It's so obvious that some don't bother reading what they have typed before they press the submit or the send button.

In many cases i would say it's because people are on mobiles or I Pads,if they are on a laptop then it is because they cannot be bothered to check.

You know, having recently aquired a tablet, I agree with you, it is just so fiddly trying to put the curser in the right place to edit out a typo, and so easy to make a typo. Just since my last comment on this thread I saw a post titled "By with Cow" and the subject was obviously "Boy with Cow". So prevalent. Are so many folk really using mobile and tablet?

You think those examples have a problem...

I don't mind others making spelling errors, but
the paradox is I hate making spelling errors or grammatical
errors; and a make both regularly. :-\

I try my best when posting to have correct spelling and grammer throughout. I am using a full sized computer. I have noticed that when I'm typing on my mobile that the autocomplete function sometimes changes what I type. It can be very frustrating. If you think this is bad you should try and read the kids text messages - it's a whole new language.

Even valid terms are sometimes changed by spell check.

That is something that gets right up my nose people who are to idle to type out the word, it is one thing to be in a hurry with a phone message (text)but just bad manners when answering a query on a forum.

When it changes completely the meaning of a sentence then yes, it bugs me. For instance, many people seem not to know the difference between "loose" and "lose". It's easy to remember if you remember this:

"If you don't tie that loose shoelace, you will lose your shoe."

Penny the waitress to Sheldon the Theoretical Physisist:
What does AFK stand for?

Sheldon to Penny:
Away from keyboard.

Penny to Sheldon:
Oh, I see.

Sheldon to Penny:
What does OIC stand for?

By the way VD, (no pun intended  )
what was the range of a Viscount? I had a flight on one in about 1963, from Perth to Melbourne (Australia) and can't remember a stop over.
